Reflex: You are indeed correct, Radiance is commandline based. Although, he might want to try something like RenderMan. One gets used to it.Max has a very crappy renderer compared to most programs. I think it is all very dependant on the program you are using.Kenn-3D is a very time consuming hobby. If you are raytracing each individual frame, I am not sure if this can be done. I don't like the razor-sharp look that raytracing provides, so I often use shadow maps, which also decreases render time. Are you using radiosity? If so, I am fairly certain that once a program has calculated the light-paths, that data is stored, and each subsequent frame renders very quickly - I am assuming that is what you mean by ambient bounce info. Once you start killing lights, the time drops dramatically. I actively work to reduce the render times - which means making a different file to render for each camera shot, and then deleting everything in that file that does not render. The render looks really nice, though, very aesthetically pleasing.Seriously, though, when I create my stuff, I keep the rendering side in mind. Nite_Hawk-10 hours on 16 computers! View image: /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif ![]() If it doesn't exceed 100MBs, I'll probably download the T1/DSL/cable rated avi, just for the heck of it. It only took about two hours (or so) to download the compressed 55.9MB avi, and that time includes normal web-surfing activity, on a 56K dual line connection. Better then 56K, approximately equal to common ISDN speeds, but certainly not close to T1/DSL/cable speeds. View image: /infopop/emoticons\icon_wink.gifWhile it is true that under normal circumstances, I am stuck with a 56K connections, sometimes I get access to a second line, for double the bandwidth. Could it be downloaded over a period of several evenings via a pathetic 56K, yes. View image: /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifSadistic, maybe. View image: /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Even people with T1s shouldn't have to download that. Taking it down to 240x180, 15 FPS should help with the 56k.Then the default size 640x480 ~80MBs? That's not too bad.Dimitrius finished up with: quote:ReFlex-50 meg chunks - hah, that would be sadistic. Dimitrius continued: quote:Right now, it is ~40 megs zipped for 320x240, 30FPS. ![]() Dimitrius said: quote:Sorry, splitting it is too much of a pain.If it's smaller than 50MBs, then forget I mentioned splitting it up.
